Samantha Cook is a consultant on the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (DRFI) program of the World Bank – GFDRR DRFI program. Her role focuses on the budget mobilization and execution of funds post disaster and the development of integrated disaster risk financing and insurance solutions. Ms. Cook began her career as an economist in commercial then central banking and was a fellow for the Overseas Development Institute posted to Vanuatu. More recently Ms. Cook was working for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community analyzing the economic and financial impact of disasters in the Pacific SIDS region. Ms. Cook holds a M.A. (hons) in Economics and Finance from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
