Anne Bakilana is the Practice Leader for Human Development for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, she leads the Bank’s program in these countries in the areas of health, nutrition, population, education, social protection and jobs. She has previously worked as Practice Leader for Human Development for Ethiopia, Sudan and South Sudan and as a Task Team Leader for health sector operations in Europe and Central Asia. She has extensive research experience in demographic and health questions; and prior to joining the World Bank, worked as a Senior Research Lecturer at the University of Cape Town’s School of Economics. She holds a BSc. in Economics from University College London and an MSc and PhD in Demography from the London School of Economics.
