Gabriel Zaourak is a Senior Economist at the World Bank Group, where he has worked since 2017 and is currently country economist for Dominican Republic and El Salvador. Previously he was country economist for Brazil, Guatemala and Myanmar, leading fiscal policy dialogue at the national and subnational level. Over the last four years, he has contributed extensively to policy dialogue and research on productivity growth for the World Bank and for a range of countries including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and the Central America region. He has led the report “Unleashing Central America’s growth” and the Dominican Republic Climate and Development Report (CCDR), and contributed to growth reports in Argentina, Mexico and Malaysia. Gabriel holds a PhD in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and he specializes in economic growth, macro-modelling and trade. His research focuses on financial crises and macro-development.
