Gayatri Koolwal is a consultant for the Living Standards Measurement Study (LSMS), the World Bank’s flagship household survey program housed at the Development Data Group. Her research examines different aspects of economic mobility, including informality and employment dynamics, how rural finance and infrastructure affect incomes and poverty, and household survey design to better capture economic roles and opportunities for men and women. She is also a co-author of Handbook on Impact Evaluation: Quantitative Methods and Practices, and recently founded Development | Science, a research and policy collaborative with a focus on human capital development. Gayatri holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
