Gustavo Demarco is a Lead Economist and Global Pensions Lead at the World Bank. Gustavo also leads the Saudi Arabia Engagement for Pensions Reform and Aging. He has led World Bank operations and policy dialogue on Pensions, Social Protection, and Labor across the Middle East and North Africa region. Before joining the World Bank, he served as Director of Operations and Planning at the Pension Supervision Authority of Argentina. He was a core member of the Argentinian pension reform team in the 1990s. He has published several articles in specialized journals and contributed to World Bank publications on Pensions, Social Safety Nets, and Social Protection Systems. He graduated as an Economist from the University of Córdoba (Argentina) and followed with postgraduate studies on Development Economics and Planning at ECLAC, Chile.
