Mahjabeen Haji works with the Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI) Global Practice at the World Bank Group in Washington, DC. She is involved in financial sector development (mostly in sub-Saharan Africa) for broad and inclusive access to financial services—from both a financial infrastructure and regulatory standpoint—in order to strengthen service delivery by public sector institutions, as well as to catalyze private sector-led growth. She has a particular interest in working with fragile and conflict economies, where she has undertaken extensive technical work to strengthen financial infrastructure, deepen financial sector intermediation, and enable responsible access to finance for the more excluded and vulnerable segments of the population. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
