Senior Transport Economist

Muneeza Mehmood Alam is a Senior Transport Economist in the Middle East and North Africa transport unit of the World Bank. Muneeza brings with her more than 15 years of experience working on development issues and joined the World Bank in 2015. During her time at the Bank, Muneeza has worked on a myriad of topics relating to transport and economic policy, particularly economic corridors and regional connectivity, urban transport, logistics, gender and spatial inclusion, and electric mobility. She has a keen interest in understanding the mechanisms through which the economic and social benefits of transport investments can be maximized and more equitably distributed. Muneeza has previously worked in the global as well as the South Asia transport units of the World Bank. Before joining the World Bank, she worked in economic consulting. She holds a PhD in economics from Yale University.
