Olivier Buyoya is the Regional Director for West Africa at IFC as of November 2022, based in Dakar, Senegal. In his role, he covers 13 countries in the region and leads IFC's strategy and operations to spur private sector development and opportunity. He works closely with the World Bank, development partners, and public and private sector actors to lead efforts to grow IFC's investment and advisory programs in the region. A Burundian national, Mr. Buyoya has held various leadership positions during his 15-year career at IFC. Prior to his new role, he served as IFC's Regional Representative for Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, and Niger, a position in which he oversaw the implementation of high-impact development projects and helped IFC mobilize $2 billion in investments. Prior to joining IFC, he worked for BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels, Belgium. He holds a master’s degree in management from Reims Management School in France.
