Rijo M. John is a consultant to the World Bank. His research—widely published in leading peer-reviewed international public health journals—focuses on evidence-based fiscal and regulatory policies targeting the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, and sugar-sweetened beverages in low- and middle-income countries. His work has contributed to shaping health taxation and regulatory frameworks globally.
Dr. John conducts independent research and technical consulting for several international institutions, including the World Bank, World Health Organization, Asian Development Bank, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and Johns Hopkins University. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kochi, and as a guest faculty member at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K). Previously, he held the position of Assistant Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT-J).
