Senior economist at the World Bank and health sector coordinator for Colombia and Mexico. Director of the Saluderecho Initiative.
He worked for more than thirteen years at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the design and implementation of health projects and in the Independent Office of Evaluation and Oversight. He was a professor and researcher in Health Economics and Nutrition at the School of Public Health at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and taught Latin American Political Economy in the master's program at the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University in the United States.
He was a Takemi Fellow at Harvard University and a Research Fellow in the health financing program at Harvard University. In the Brazilian public sector he worked for the State and Municipal Health Secretariats of São Paulo. He has several articles published in books and academic journals.
