Sandrine Jauffret is a plant ecologist and has joined the World Bank in March 2021 as Sr. Natural Resources Management Specialist in the Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice (GP) in the Middle East & Northern Africa (MNA) Region. Previously, she was team lead for Land Degradation Neutrality Transformative Projects and Programme at the Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. She coordinated the development and management of a project portfolio in more than 70 countries, worldwide, at the national/regional level to identify and develop large-scale sustainable land management and landscape restoration interventions, in partnership with key development partners. Before, she has led and contributed strategically and operationally to the development of drylands, working with public, private, and international institutions, in particular at the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) or as international consultant for the World Bank. Ms. Jauffret has a Ph.D. in desertification monitoring in Southern Tunisia and dedicated her professional career to ensuring sustainable development globally in the drylands as well as in the Mediterranean region. She is fluent in French and English and has a working knowledge of Spanish.
