Yasmina Abou Youssef is Vice President for Procurement, Marketing, and Communications for Shores Hotels – an Egyptian hotel management chain. Ms. Abou Youssef is also an active philanthropist and social entrepreneur.
She is currently spearheading a comprehensive development project in Istabl Antar, a squatter settlement in the Old Cairo area that sprouted in the 1970s. In 2007, with other philanthropists, she founded Tawasol for Developing Istabl Antar NGO registered in the area with the mission to work with the community as partners in thought, goal, and common interest. Tawasol provides free high-quality education to children who have never attended school due to their families' social and economic conditions. In addition, it trains students and women in the area in crafts such as embroidery, sewing, crochet, and carpentry, which helps increase the family income.
In addition to the Istabl Antar initiative, Ms. Abou Youssef is one of the founders of Fat'het Kheir (FK), an Egyptian NGO established in 2000 to assist the families living in Al Hadaba Al Wosta in the Moqattam area. She has been overseeing FK's Knitting Center, building the capacity of the women working in the Center, upgrading the equipment, and expanding its marketing and distribution potential through innovative, affordable, and usable products for homes and businesses alike.
