Kanako Hasegawa is an Environmental Specialist with the Environment and Natural Resources Global Practice at the World Bank Group. She is a Japanese national and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from the University of Oxford.
Kanako has over seven years of experience as a program manager. Before joining the Bank, she worked for the UN Environment Program (UNEP). At UNEP, she specialized in ecosystem management of the marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems. She supported the Global Partnership on Marine Litter, coordinated 18 Regional Seas program and served for the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species. She has extensive experience in supporting regional environmental cooperation through intergovernmental processes.
