Guide to 2015 Annual Meetings webcast events

The global economy, climate change, infrastructure, the food system – these are just a few of the hot topics that will be addressed in Lima, Peru, in the lead-up to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund the week of Oct. 5.

The annual gathering of ministers from 188 countries takes place just two weeks after a historic vote at the United Nations to adopt Sustainable Development Goals. Government ministers will again discuss the SDGs at the Oct. 11 meeting of the Development Committee of the World Bank Group and IMF.

We’re webcasting 14 events in multiple languages featuring ministers, CEOs, and experts.  Tune into World Bank Live on Thursday to see actor and social activist Sean Penn weigh in on ways to empower young entrepreneurs. On Tuesday, young musicians from the “Recycled Orchestra” of Paraguay — a performance group made up of kids whose home was a garbage dump — grace the Social Inclusion Wikistage. On Friday, World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim is joined by Peruvian President Ollanta Moisés Humala Tasso, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, and UK Secretary of State for International Development Justine Greening to talk about ending extreme poverty, boosting shared prosperity, and tackling climate change, from today to 2030.
