Marcelo Buitron is an operations officer in the front office of the World Bank Group’s Senior Vice President and Chief Economist. In this role he co-manages the Joint Japan/ World Bank Scholarship Program and is a part of DEC’s trust funds and partnerships team, including the Knowledge for Change Program. Prior to joining DEC, Marcelo worked in the Governance Global Practice designing and implementing public sector reform projects on issues such as transparency and accountability, shared corporate services, human resource management and public financial management. He holds a Master’s Degree in Governance from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Vassar College.
